Wilo's latest water-saving automation

BIG 5: German company Wilo has developed a building automation system which controls the amount of water pumped into residential buildings based on consumption, cutting down on the amount of water and energy used.

German company Wilo has developed a building automation system which controls the amount of water pumped into residential buildings based on consumption, cutting down on the amount of water and energy used.

"Our product works with the consumer, and the control panel monitors when the pumps on the system need to be used so energy is not wasted," said Ahmed M. Abdul Hadi, sales engineer, Wilo.

The Wilo pump is designed to be used in conjunction with heating and cooling air conditioning systems, and is said to be highly efficient.

The technology used allows for the water pumps to be remotely and electronically controlled, and the technology can also be applied to existing pumps in order to reduce the amount of water wastage and energy consumption with replacing the existing system in place.

Wilo has also taken on projects in Egypt and Qatar.

The company joined with a company from Saudi Arabia two years ago in order to introduce its technology and products to the Middle East.

Wilo has also signed a US $272,000 contract (AED 1 million) with the RTA to supply its water pumps to the Dubai Metro project.

Wilo pumps can be used in commercial buildings, communal facilities, industrial, and office buildings and homes.
