Dubai-based bathroom unit supplier Modulor is under negotiation to supply 19,000 of its pods to Aldar's Al Raha Beach Development in Abu Dhabi.

"We expect talks to finish by March 2008, with production to follow shortly after," Modulor general manager Nigel Dixon told Construction Week.

The firm has also been contracted to provide approximately 500 of the self-contained bathroom units at a cost of approximately $9,531 (AED 35,000) per pod to the Cube hotel in Dubai Sports City, Dixon revealed.

Dixon added that the firm has had inquiries for 32,000 of its pods in total in the region, with other interested parties including UAE-based hotels and high-rise developments.

Modulor recently supplied 1,267 pods to the Royal Tower Hotel on Atlantis, Palm Jumeirah - the first use of bathroom pods in the region, according to the firm.

Modulor produces the pods in Dubai.
