Emirates Extruded Polystyrene (EEP) has produced a product called E-Foam, which it believes will play a major role in the field of energy conservation in the Gulf. The product is said to reduce the need for cooling in homes by 50-70%.

The insulation reduces heat transfer by stopping warm air from outside travelling to the cooled areas inside buildings and homes.

EEP is a joint venture company of Dubai Investments Industries and Cloisall Company, which is located in Dubai Investment Park.

"E-Foam is extremely useful because it is thermal insulation made of polystyrene and is therefore environmentally friendly because it helps to reduce energy consumption," said Mohammed Haris, sales manager for Cloisall Company.

Another product by the company is E-roof, a thermal insulation for gravel roofs.

The product contains a waterproof membrane to stop moisture from seeping in. Roof foam thickness is 50-100mm, and consists of extruded polystyrene rigid foam with skin.

Roof insulation, mostly known as the inverted roof concept or upside down roof, insulates both the waterproof membrane and the RC slab from extreme thermal stress.

According to the company, EEP products is also extremely safe because they are classified as ‘too difficult to ignite when it comes to fire classification'.
