Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry is using the Big 5 to highlight its services and support to those involved in the emirate's construction sector.
The Chamber has set up two business groups to represent the sector - the Building & Civil Construction Group and the Building Materials Trading Group.
"Dubai Chamber's participation in this significant exhibition aims at underlining its services and facilities offered to building and construction developers in Dubai," said Hamad Buamim, director general of Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
"Through this event, Dubai Chamber promotes the activities of members operating under its two business groups of building and civil construction and building materials trading. The exhibition offers a good opportunity for them to learn about the latest development in the fields of building and construction worldwide thanks to the vast participation of a large number of local and international companies," he added.
According to Dubai Chamber's database, the construction sector in Dubai has contributed by 13.6% to the emirate's GDP in 2006.
The annual average rate of growth of Dubai's construction sector increased by 17.9% between 2000 and 2006, resulting in the construction boom.
More than 8,170 building and construction companies were operating in Dubai during 2006.
The building contracting activity in Dubai represents 45% of all the activities practiced in the sector.
