Midea expands into commercial sector
BIG 5: Air conditioning manufacturer Midea has announced plans to enter the commercial AC sector in the Middle Eastern region.
Air conditioning manufacturer Midea has announced plans to enter the commercial AC sector in the Middle Eastern region.
The firm has launched two new product ranges at this year's Big 5 exhibition, one of which will form the initial backbone of its entry into the commercial sector.
It is currently seeking an agent to distribute its products within this sector.
"At this moment, residential products provide a higher turnover for us, but the commercial sector has a much brighter future in the Middle East," said Midea assistant marketing manager Mark Zhou.
"There are more industries such as the real estate sector that are booming, so we are confident that we have a potential market here," he added.
The firm launched the MRT100CR rooftop commercial air conditioning unit and an air-cooled screw chiller at this week's show.
The MRT100CR is designed specifically for application in tropical environments and has a capacity of 10TR.
The screw chiller is available in capacities of 3-20TR and is aimed at larger commercial sector applications that have high cooling capacity requirements.
"We hope to achieve up to US $5 million turnover for commercial units and there is the potential for us to make a turnover of up to $10 million in this sector," added Zhou.
"We are still in the starting phases though, these are general forecasts," he added.
Midea currently offers a broad range of products aimed at the residential market via its Dubai office.
