Accor Middle East is to open one of its Novotel-branded hotels in Jeddah after signing a management contract with developer Sons of Ahmed Saleh Kaki.

The hotel will be the first Novotel-branded outlet in Jeddah and will be the 12th Accor property to open in the Kingdom, bringing its total number of rooms to more than 3,000.

It will be built on Tahlia St in an upmarket shopping area close to the city's corniche. Advanced construction of the property is already uner way and once it opens by the end of 2013, the hotel will have 143 rooms and sutes, a restaurant and lobby lounge, meeting space, a health club and a swimming pool.

Sons of Ahmed Saleh Kaki vice-president Abdulwahab Ahmed Saleh Kaki said: "We are delighted to partner with Accor, a trusted and globally recognised partner. With Accor's know-how and strong presence worldwide, we are confident in their expertise and capability to successfully manage our new property.

"We also share a common vision with Accor and we believe that together we can succeed in growing travel and tourism in KSA, particularly in that mid-market segment that is so far not well served.”

Accor Middle East MD Christophe Landais said: "We have a common objective to develop the tourism industry in the Kingdom and to create a modern and natural way of hotel living, which guests can fully experience through our Novotel brand.”

Accor currently operates two Novotel brands in Saudi Arabia at Riyadh and Dammam Business Park. The firm also recently revealed plans to open a pair of its budget Ibis branded hotels at Riyadh and Yanbu.
