Blaze takes place on 33rd floor of building that is almost completed

A fire broke out on the top floor of a building under construction in the Downtown Dubai area yesterday.

The fire broke out within a building close to the cinema entrance to the Dubai Mall where construction work is almost complete. Police reported the fire at 2.15pm yesterday and had said that no-one was injured.

According to Gulf News, a civil defence official said that the fire broke out on the top floor of the building. Civil Defence officials attempted a rescue, but workers managed to escape on their own.

"We have no idea yet about the reason for the fire," the official said.

"Dubai police forensic laboratory officials will investigate the reason behind the fire.”
