Start-ups exempt from waste tariff for first year
AUH entrepreneurs will benefit for a year before paying a waste tariff
New commercial licensees will be exempt from tariffs on waste production for the first year, said the Centre of Waste Management - Abu Dhabi.
In a statement, the centre announced that all new commercial licensees in the trading, industrial, occupational, handicrafts and construction sectors will be exempted during their first year of operation.
Tariff fees on waste production will be collected by the Department of Economic Development only after the end of the stipulated exemption period.
The announcement follows the recent decree issued by the Executive Council of Abu Dhabi mandating new investors and commercial license holders to brief the Centre of Waste Management – Abu Dhabi on the mechanism they will adopt to reduce and better manage waste.
His Excellency Mohamed Rashed Al Hameli, general manager, Centre of Waste Management - Abu Dhabi, said: "Based on the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030, the Centre of Waste Management is keen to boost economic competitiveness in Abu Dhabi through encouraging start-ups.
"We invite the business community to leverage the benefit of our latest initiative to waive tariffs on waste management for the first year.
"We urge these new ventures to step up their vital contribution to the emirate’s goals of economic diversification."
