The CEO of Dubai-based World Security discusses his working life

How did you get into the FM industry and what attracted you to it?
Having served in the security division of the Ports, Customers and Free Zone Corporations (PCFC) since 1990, starting a security firm that catered to the private market was the natural step forward.

Being involved in the safeguarding of the ports and free zones made me understand the need and importance of the role a security division played.

What were you doing before this?
Prior to being appointed the CEO of World Security and PCFC Security, I was working in various security-related positions with the ports, customs and free zones in Dubai.

Best thing about the FM industry?
I would say the best thing is the constant evolution of the industry. For example, the security sector has undergone several changes in the years gone by.

From being manpower-centric we are now moving towards the use of technology. The technology available today and those being developed are quite remarkable and it is a real pleasure to implement these for our clients.

Any advice for a young person starting out in the FM industry?
For someone keen on being part of the security industry, I would advise him or her to make sure this is what they are passionate about. It is not the most glamorous industry to be in but is definitely one of the most critical for investors, corporate and even governments.

One has to be up to date with the latest technologies and implementations. One has to work constantly to not just meet customer requirements, but to surpass them. But to know that our clients are at ease because we are not makes it worth the effort.
