Video: Behind the world's tallest solar towers

Shams builder Abengoa partners up for fresh record-breaking project

Abengoa, the Spanish firm behind Masdar’s record-breaking Shams 1 parabolic trough project, has signed a deal with Brightsource Energy to jointly finance and develop the world’s twin-tallest concentrated solar power towers in California.

The 500MW Palen Solar Project involves two 250MW arrays to feature the 229m-tall towers, which together will produce enough power to prevent the emission of 17 million tons of CO2 over their lifespan.
