Dubai Aluminium (DUBAL) introduced a new logistics solution that has been integrated electronically with key freight forwarders to facilitate the automation of inbound shipment tracking.

The SAP-based Inbound Logistic solution which uses both the SAP Logistics Execution and the SAP Traders and Schedulers Workbench aims to automate all the processes between placing a order to receiving the goods at the DUBAL warehouse.

The project, which started in 2012, took almost one year to be completed.

According to Ahmad Al Mulla, vice president of IT at DUBAL, the investment of time and resources for the project was more than worthwhile.

“[The solution] will help DUBAL to maintain optimal inventory levels and eventually will result in cost-savings. It will also contribute to faster turnaround times for the entire procurement and logistics cycle, leading to higher ROI; and will improve the reliability of the data and quality of reporting and analysis,” said Al Mulla.
