MEFMA in Kuwait with first FM awareness conference
MEFMA rallies industry at inaugural FM awareness conference in Kuwait
The theme of MEFMA's (Middle East Facility Management Association) inaugural conference in Kuwait will be "Buildings and Facilities – Assets to be Valued".
New projects in the country include the $6bn expansion of Kuwait International Airport, a new port next to the Mina Al Ahmadi refinery and a metro system for Kuwait city.
These and other contracts are valued at $13,226 million across all sectors by Ventures Onsite and will need sufficient FM to ensure they see out their lifecycle.
Jamal Lootah, MEFMA president and keynote presenter at the conference, said: "Facilities management is a new industry for Kuwait, so there is an urgent requirement to build awareness and communicate best practice in terms of operating and maintaining all these new developments coming to market."
He continued: "That is the purpose of our inaugural conference in Kuwait City; to promote the value of integrated FM to stakeholders in the wider construction industry, building owners and local authorities."
Keynote speaker at the conference is Dr. Ibrahim Al Ghusain, from Kharafi National who will use his experience in public infrastructure and environmental engineering to discuss the contribution FM plays within emerging economies.
Ahmad Yousef Al Kandari, CEO of gold sponsor Kuwait United Facilities Management, has a background in finance and real estate as well as FM, and will, as keynote speaker, discuss the contribution and saving FM has on an organisation’s balance sheet.
Other speakers include Alain Saliba, business development manager at Kharafi National (Platinum Sponsor), James Spencer of Gulf International Community Management, Kris Young of 1ML, Lionel Prodgers of Agents4RM International, Mohammed Al Duralbi of Da’em Real Estate Investment Company, Elie Khalife and Tom Gilmartin of Ecovert and Barry Clarke of Macro.
