Dutco McConnnell wins Qatar aluminium job

Dutco McConnell Dowell (ME) has been awarded a contract from Qatar Aluminium Company for the installation of reduction cells and potroom equipment for phase one of a new aluminium smelter in Qatar.

Dutco McConnell Dowell (ME) has been awarded a contract from Qatar Aluminium Company for the installation of reduction cells and potroom equipment for phase one of a new aluminium smelter in Qatar.

The contract is one of the major packages on the US $5.6 billion Primary Aluminium Smelter project in Mesaieed city, south of the capital Doha.

The firm will also be responsible for the installation of potshells and superstructures along with all necessary connections.

When phase one is completed the smelter will produce 585,000 tonnes of primary aluminium a year, while the execution of phase two will generate 1.2 million tonnes.

Dutco McConnell Dowell's contract is scheduled to be completed in June 2010.
