Landscaping firm wins again

Planters Horticulture walks off with Best International Landscaping trophy at BALI Awards.

Local interior landscaping company, Planters Horticulture, have gained another award from the British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI). The accolade, won for the company's interior landscaping of Times Square Mall in Dubai, takes their tally of trophies from the association to five.

Jonathon Pardoe, general manager, Planters Horticulture said the design concept of the landscaping set it apart from those of other malls in Dubai: "Very often mall planting consists of plant displays in individual containers. With the Time Square Centre we were able to plant two very large in-situ plant areas...creating purpose-built recreational and relaxation areas in the centre of the mall, a unique feature in Dubai."

The company was shortlisted with five others in the category of Best International Landscaping at the BALI awards ceremony held in London's Park Lane Hilton. The award was made all the more special given the challenges the company faced while implementing the design. "The two greatest challenges on this project were the installation of the 11 metre tall preserved palms, which had to be erected adjacent to a specialised waterfall and the difficulty of installing the planting while other construction work was still proceeding," explained Pardoe.

The project involved installing over 7,000 plants over 17,500m² floor space. The landscaping company is currently working on designs for Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport, Monarch Hotel and Burj Old Town.
