EFS Facilities Services-Middle East (EFSME) received two occupational health and safety awards from the internationally recognised British Safety Council (BSC) and Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).

The company received the International Safety Award for 2013 (Distinction) from the British Safety Council (now in its 55th year) and the Gold award from RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety for 2013 (in its 57th year).

Alex Botha, chief executive of the British Safety Council, congratulated EFS Facilities Services Middle East, and said: "All of those working at EFS have made this award possible which recognises their dedication and commitment in preventing injury and ill-health in the workplace.

"The success criteria for our International Safety Awards is challenging and that rightly reflects the importance of ensuring the risk of injury and ill health in the workplace are properly controlled. EFS should be rightly proud of their achievement."

David Rawlins, RoSPA’s awards manager, said: "RoSPA firmly believes that organisations that demonstrate commitment to continuous improvement in accident and ill health prevention deserve recognition. EFS Facilities Services (Middle East) has shown that it is committed to striving for such continuous improvement and we are delighted to honour it through the presentation of an award."

David Brown, director of EFS Health and Safety said: "It is an exceptional achievement for EFS to win these two prestigious awards in the same year. At EFS Facilities Services, we are committed to improving standards in health, safety and environment through the continued development of health and safety culture, both at the client sites and the local community as a whole, and of course our, own operations.

"These awards come with a higher responsibility of constantly excelling in health and safety management systems, and to achieve higher standards across the group."

The firm has already been certified with the ISO 9000:2008, ISO 1400:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007 international standards.
