First female 'FM of the Year'; from Musanada/Macro
Fawzeia Hamad Al Marzouqi of Musanada/Macro International wins award
The fmME Awards 2013 crowned its first female 'FM of the Year' title-holder last night - Emirati candidate Fawzeia Hamad Al Marzouqi from Musanada/Macro International.
Al Marzouqi trumped her competitors from du, Qatar Museums Authority, EFS Facilities Services, and Brookfield Multiplex.
"I’m speechless. It’s an honour for me to get this as I am a local and a lady. I had four male competitors!" said Al Marzouqi.
She added: "I hope to improve more and I wish the same for all my colleagues. Without their support I wouldn’t have been able to win this award."
The judges noted that all the entries were of a particularly high standard, but Al Marzouqi stood out, both from dint of her achievements and as an Emirati who was pushing the profession amidst her peers.
She has a strong academic background and considerable technical experience and was deemed an “impressive individual” by the jury.
Education and sustainability are important to Al Marzouqi, who tries to raise awareness amongst stakeholders on the critical need of FM in all environments.
Working on a variety of government projects, Al Marzouqi, who has recently had an internal promotion, has taken the initiative to bring about many positive changes. She said, "When I was nominated for this, I was a facility manager, but now I am an area manager working for Musanada in the Western Region area."
Finally, the judges said the winner is “a great example of an Emirati succeeding in FM who stands out from the other nominees”.
