Negotiations with contractors to build Escape - an equestrian-themed community in Ajman - will begin in February, with groundbreaking expected in March.

Construction on the project - which has an estimated value of US $500 million (AED 1.8 billion) will be broken down into three packages for the residential component; one package for the appartment building work and one package for the equestrian component.

The main contractor will also undertake all infrastructure work.

"The schematic and infrastructure design has already started and in February we're going to start the discussions with contractors," said Anwer Sher, general manager of Escape LLC.

"It's not going to be a huge or high-powered job, so there are pretty good options in terms of contractors."

Spread over 0.76 million m2, the project will be located on the border of Ajman and Sharjah.

Villas will be designed according to Arabic, Ottaman and Mediterranean architecture, while appartment buildings of no more than thirteen storeys will border the residential area of the development.

The development will also offer stabling for 200 horses including an equestrian spa dedicated to the rehabilitation of injured horses and a mix of indoor and outdoor riding arenas and training facilities.

There will also be a clubhouse, sporting and conference facilities and restaurants.

"Escape will offer a new and healthier kind of lifestyle," added Sher.

"Conveniently located to urban centers, yet removed from traffic and other urban stress, the community has been carefully designed to provide residents with an abundance of nature, peaceful views, and privacy not seen in other developments."
