Nakheel awards groundworks deal for The Pointe

Freyssinet Gulf picks up deal to prepare site for $218m retail project

Nakheel has awarded a contract for the groundworks at The Pointe development on Palm Jumeirah to Freyssinet Gulf.

Under the deal, Freyssinet will carry out ground preparationg work, including topographical surveys, site investigation and vibro-compaction work.

It will begin to mobilise workers soon in order to complete work quickly so that construction can start on site towards the end of the year.

The Pointe is a $217.8m (AED: 800m) new shopping mall and leisure destination planned at the tip of the trunk of Nakheel's Palm Jumeirah, opposite the Atlantis hotel. It is expected to complete in 2016.

Last week, Nakheel's CEO Sanjay Manchanda said that the company had a project pipeline with a value of between $2.2bn-$2.5bn (AED: 8bn-9bn).
