Masdar launches EcoWASTE exhibition in Abu Dhabi
CWM and Masdar will co-host exhibition during sustainability week
Abu Dhabi’s Centre of Waste Management (CWM) and Masdar, have launched an EcoWASTE exhibition targeting waste management and recycling to be held as part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week scheduled for January 2014.
In an effort to address sustainability and waste management issues in the MENA region - the GCC alone produces 120m tons of solid waste, 6m of which comes from Abu Dhabi. The exhibition will introduce waste management systems specifically targeted at Abu Dhabi.
Alongside the World Future Energy Summit and International Water Summit, the efforts of Masdar and CWM are to keep its environment conservation initiatives aligned on a global platform.
CEO of Madsar, Dr Sultan Al Jaber, stressed the significance of recyclable waste as a source of energy and power.
“With its productive output and efficient conversion rate, waste –to-energy is emerging as an attractive, clean energy source. Eco-waste as part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week is the ideal platform to showcase the latest global technologies,“ he said.
EcoWASTE aims to become one the leading specialist events in the MENA region for waste management professionals in both the public and the private sector.
Fredric Theux, president of event organiser Reed Exhibitions Middle East remarked on the rising environmental awareness in the MENA region and the exhibition’s aim in offering tailor-made solutions to address the waste management issues in the Middle East.
“EcoWASTE 2014 will host a wide-range of specialists offering custom solutions in industrial cleaning, refuse collection, composting, site decontamination, and air pollution monitoring and control.”
