A contracting company halted work on a construction site in the south-western Saudi town of Abha following the discovery of human remains during excavation work.

Abha Municipality was immediately contacted and has brought in the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) to look into the matter.

Awadh Al-Asmari, spokesman for the Presidency for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (Haia) in Asir, told Saudi Gazette that a fact-finding committee will be formed to determine whether the site was previously the location of a cemetery.
