German cable and pipe entry systems manufacturer, Hauff-Technik, has launched its new Gelomer Plug, which is in line with the UAE's new sustainability and energy laws.

The plug is ideal for sealing cables that need to be laid into metal-walled housing and containers with only three sizes being able to seal the entire range of cable sizes from 5mm to 40mm in diameter.

"The Gelomer Plug is made up of an elastomer outer sleeve and soft core gel which is why a range of sizes can fit inside the plug," said Michael Seibold, managing director of Hauff-Technik.

The outer sleeve forms a positive fit with the opening, ensuring a tight seal to the case, while the gel core seals the cable. This helps save energy as the plugs won't leak like they do when other systems are used, for example like in air conditioners.

The Gelomer Plug was launched last week at the Middle East Electricity Exhibition in Dubai. Seibold also said that the new product was ideal for this region as it was less labour intensive.

"In a market such as this where finding adequately skilled labour is difficult, this product is ideal because it requires the minimum skill to work with and has an inbuilt professional level of functionality.

"Even an unskilled worker could install this product and it would be perfectly done because it's an intelligent system that requires minimum technical assistance.

Hauff-Technik is also on the look out for local companies to tie up with to market its new range of products. Based in Herbrechtingen, in Germany, Hauff-Technik has been engineering and manufacturing products for 53 years across two plants.
