Saraya Bandar Jissah to award infrastructure deal
Omani Integrated Tourism Complex prepares for second phase works
Omani developer Saraya Bandar Jissah is to award the major infrastructure tender package for phase two of its integrated tourism complex (ITC) in the coming months, according to the developer’s vice president of technical services, Dr Bassam Talhouni.
First phase works on the project, which have involved shaping the ground at the site into the master-plan mould and preparing the ground for construction, are nearing completion and Talhouni said the second phase will begin shortly.
“The infrastructure package will commence shortly and will include the laying of all utilities such as power, communications, sewage, water, roads and lighting throughout the site. Now that the groundwork is complete, the construction of the first hotel will start in parallel with these works,” Talhouni said.
“The initial phase which involved preparing the ground for construction started in August 2012. This phase included the cutting of rocks to accommodate properties, shaping of wadis and the lagoon to protect the site from flooding, protecting the site’s heritage, constructing culverts and the road network as well as filling the land ready for construction,” he added.
Saraya Bandar Jissah is aiming to have the project’s two hotels on site, viewed as key assets, ready for the grand opening in 2017. The development’s hotels will be five-star and managed by an internationally renowned hotels and resorts operator.
According to Talhouni, the development is being built to international standards with the design remaining informed by its local surroundings.
“Through a careful design process with our consultants we have developed these designs to stay true to Omani roots, while providing a family friendly yet luxurious feel. The boutique hotel is designed and will be built using traditional methods, and every aspect of construction will be undertaken with the local environmental context in mind,” he said.
