Hill International gains $29m Jabal Omar extension

Firm to provide project management to mega-project for two more years

NEWS, Business

Hill International has received a two-year contract extension on the Jabal Omar Development project at Makkah in Saudi Arabia.

The project, which involves building 37 towers containing hotels, apartments, retail and religious facilities in 57 acres of land surrounding the Grand Mosque, will see more than two million square metres built.

Hill International's contract covers project management, and the extension has an estimated value to Hill of around $28.7m (SR107.5m), the company said.

"We are honoured that Jabal Omar Development Company continues to rely upon Hill's project management expertise," said senior vice-president and Middle East managing director, Mohammed Al Rais. "We are confident that our team's performance will continue to exceed our client's expectations."

The first phase of the project, containing four large buildings housing ten towers, is being carried out by main contractor Nesma & Partners under a $900m deal set to conclude in the third quarter of 2014.
