Brazil is looking to add its own particular style to the design influences already seen in the Middle East.
Procurement problems in the region are driving interior designers and fit out companies to constantly look further afield to source suitable products.
One country gaining greater attention from the Middle East is Brazil, so much so the country's trade associations are actively pursuing greater business links with local designers.
"Nowadays, the Middle East represents a clear growing market for construction work and the design industry," said Antonio Carlos Kieling, director superintendent of Anfacer, the Brazilian Association of Ceramic Tile Manufacturers. "The Brazilian tile industry is already very international and it cannot disregard the economic importance of the region.
"The proportion of Brazilian companies and professionals doing business in the region grows exponentially each year, though Brazil is a rather new alternative to the Middle East's search for technically qualified and innovative design."
As part of a move to bolster international trade links Anfacer is sponsoring Revestir, a construction and design industry trade show being held in Latin America, focusing on coverings and surface materials.
"Revestir has as a goal to offer to worldwide market and architecture and design professionals the best of tile industry, putting together the brand and quality of Brazilian industry," said Kieling.
"The Brazilian tile industry is among the most important ones in the world. Brazilian tiling products follow the most up-to-date standards, when it comes to style and trends, offering every kind of solution to projects worldwide. We hope to deepen the mutual understanding between Brazil and the Middle East, giving development projects in the region the characteristics of Brazilian culture and its inspirations. We know that Brazil has developed a very particular architecture, and we believe that this can be an important channel for driving the Brazilian design to different corners of the world."
Revestir 2008 will take place between 11-14 March in the Transamérica Expo Center, São Paolo, Brazil.
