COMMENT, Facilities Management

All those FMs involved in supporting events understand the work that goes into ensuring they are successful.

Take an awards dinner, for example. Pre-event, you liaise with the event organisers to understand the scale of the night, the number of people that will attend, the sort of catering that's required and if it's high profile, any additional security that might be needed. Then there's the lighting, sound and audio to think about and how many technicians will be involved in the set-up.

On the night, do the event organisers want people to be greeted? Who will be making sure people sit at the right table? Will waiter staff be needed before people are seated? Do you need additional staff to monitor the CCTV in the control room?

These are just some of the considerations that need to be thought about to ensure guests have an enjoyable evening.

But on 9 June 2008, all you need to think about is making your way to the first facilities management Middle East Awards. We want you to down tools and come join us for a night of glitz, glamour and gratitude.

There are 15 awards up for grabs and with only two months until the nomination deadline (1 May 2008), there's no time to waste if you want to see your name/company recognised for a job well done.
