IBS-Mapei is set to incorporate a new company in Qatar, as part of its growth plans for the GCC.

Speaking at the Big 5, managing director Stefano Iannacone explained that both Qatar and Saudi Arabia will be a focal point for the company's growth in 2014.

"Incorporating in Qatar is primarily to cover the metro project," said Iannacone. "By being there, with our own team, the technical support we can offer is stronger."

Iannacone said Mapei had experienced in excess of 30% growth in the region so far in 2013 and expects similar performance next year.

"We feel the market is picking up and new projects are finally starting," he said. "We see confidence in the market and we are adding more products to the range that we manufacture locally."

Mapei is using the Big 5 as a platform to launch two new products in the region. The company will be demonstrating a product designed to allow the complete recycling of returned concrete from job sites. It will also offer a 'shrinkage compensated thixotropic mortar for cortical restoration of concrete'.
