Petra Engineering opens new $8m factory in KAEC
HVAC firm adds Saudi facility to two existing factories in Jordan
Petra Engineering Industries Co., a Jordanian-based heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) firm, has celebrated the opening of its factory in King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) on the outskirts of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Located in the first phase of KAEC’s industrial valley, the 42,000m² facility cost $8m (SAR 30m) to build and will employ 190 people.
The factory is Petra’s third such facility but its first outside the company’s base in Jordan where it has factories in Amman and Mafraq.
Samir Hamed, general manager of Petra Arabia, praised the KAEC factory and the progress achieved within the Economic City.
“The phrase ‘Made in KSA’, and specifically in KAEC, will be a new honour for Petra Engineering in its 30 years of business. We are proud to be among one of the first factories exporting from KAEC," said Hamed.
Omar Abu-Wishah, deputy chairman of the company, added: “Our high quality, as well as the attention paid to details at all manufacturing stages and international certificates, has allowed Petra to join the US which is one of the most competitive markets."
