Caterpillar and Trimble announce new agreements
Companies expand offerings for construction customers
Caterpillar and Trimble have announced new agreements that they say will increase onsite productivity for construction customers.
The companies, which have been working together for almost two decades, claim their ongoing collaboration will better serve global customers from project design through completion.
The renewed partnership will offer critical technologies and services focused on fleet management and site productivity across contractors’ fleets, regardless of the brands used.
Caterpillar and Trimble have been using the VisionLink suite of applications to offer such services since 2008. The latest agreements have been formed as part of the firms’ ongoing commitment to develop and expand these products.
Caterpillar will use the strategic partnership to provide a unified, site-level fleet focus to its Cat Connect portfolio of products and services. At present, Cat Connect is helping customers to monitor more than 250,000 Caterpillar machines globally, thus improving fuel consumption, maintenance procedures, productivity and fleet availability.
Commenting on the new agreements, Caterpillar’s Hans Haefeli, vice president with responsibility for the Advanced Components and Systems Division, said: “Caterpillar has worked with Trimble since 1996 to optimise site productivity through a revolutionary suite of grade control solutions, differentiated by industry leading machine integration straight out of our manufacturing plants, mixed fleets’ aftermarket systems and through our world-class distribution network.”
The renewed partnership will also serve to enhance Caterpillar’s collaboration with Trimble’s SITECH Technology Dealers: a global distribution network that provides a construction technology portfolio to both heavy and civil contractors.
“The agreements demonstrate both companies’ commitment to providing a brand agnostic information solution to contractors with mixed equipment fleets,” said Bryn Fosburgh, vice president responsible for Trimble’s construction technology divisions. “This unified fleet solution is enabled by VisionLink, which integrates a wide range of site and machine information elements to give customers a holistic view of their site. It’s a powerful tool that unlocks new levels of productivity and improves operation efficiency.”
