Milestone reached at Msheireb Downtown Doha
Msheireb Properties announces new permanent power connection
Msheireb Properties has announced a major new milestone at its flagship Msheireb Downtown Doha (MDD) project.
It has achieved permanent 11 kilovolt (kV) power connection in its first district cooling plant in partnership with Kahramaa and is now operational and in the testing stage.
The permanent power connection will allow for the operation of highly efficient water cooled chillers in the district cooling plant which will supply the Diwan Amiri Quarter with chilled water.
This plant will be part of a larger district cooling system which will comprise two district cooling plants.
Once fully operational, the total capacity of the district cooling system will be 29,250 tonnes of refrigeration, sufficient to serve the cooling needs of the entire Msheireb Downtown Doha development.
“We are extremely proud to have completed this major ‘power on’ milestone for our MDD project in close cooperation with Kahramaa. It is the result of the tireless efforts of the entire Msheireb Properties team, Kahramaa management and their field engineers,” said Abdulla Al Mehshadi, CEO of Msheireb Properties.
“Our environmental considerations are deeply incorporated into each element of the MDD master plan, underscoring our commitment to sustainable development and industry best practice.”
The MDD district cooling system will enable significant savings in comparison to the power consumption of conventional air cooled chillers.
The plants will use chillers of the highest efficiency, which will be able up to 12.6m kWhs per year compared to similar conventional chillers.
