Alba ends dispute with shipping firm Klaveness

Companies drop claims and sign long term commercial freight deal

NEWS, Business

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) has announced that it has reached a settlement with a Norwegian shipping firm that had filed a claim against it in London.

Alba had filed a counterclaim against Torvald Klaveness Shipping in Norway, but both firms have now set aside their differences and signed a new long term commercial freight contract.

Klaveness subsidiary Cabu Chartering will now deliver alumina to Bahrain for Alba.

Alba chairman Mahmood Hashin Al Kooheji said: "We are pleased to have reached a settlement with Klaveness and resume normal business relations.

"Klaveness had been a major freight carrier for Alba in the past and is a well-respected shipping company in the industry. We welcome them back as one of our key freight carriers for alumina.”
