Ashghal floats roads repair tender
Authority wants firm to carry out works on an ad hoc basis
Ashghal has floated a tender to appoint a qualified contractor to repair and maintain highway structures on an ad hoc basis for two years.
The primary aim of repair and maintenance is to keep highway structures above minimum performance level and extend structure life.
“Delaying or not undertaking the required treatments will result in worsening the structure condition and can escalate the feasible treatment or activity from preservation to replacement,” said the public works authority.
“The latter will result in extensive work and higher cost. A viable alternative is timely and effective bridge maintenance to assure their structural integrity and extend their useful life before they require replacement.”
The scope of work for a period of two years includes: routine maintenance works for highway structures as per the engineer’s requirements and emergency repair works for highway structures on an ad hoc basis.
The closing date for tenders is 9 February 2014, and is open to Qatar participants only.
