Finland expresses desire to fund and build transport schemes in Iran

NEWS, Projects, Finland, Iran

Finland has expressed its readiness for funding and building railroad and transportation projects in Iran, an Iranian transportation official said.

"Finnish representatives of the companies taking part in the meeting have announced that they are ready to design and accomplish (Iran's railway) projects," official in charge of development of railroads, ports and airports Massoud Nasr Azadani told the Iranian students news agency after a meeting with a delegation of some prominent Finish transportation and infrastructure companies.

He further noted that the Chinese Development Bank will also take part in financing the projects.

Azadani added that the delegation has expressed its willingness for investment on the projects based on an agreement with Tehran to payback all the expenses as well as their interests in a five to 25-year-long period.

Early in July, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani underlined the need for the expansion of bilateral ties between Iran and Finland.
