FLSmidth wins $38m order from Oman Cement

Danish engineering firm to install equipment for fifth grinding mill

Oman Cement Company has placed a $38m order with Danish engineering company FLSmidth for new milling equipment for a cement plant.

The new mill be the fifth to be be built at Oman Cement Co's HQ in the Rusayl Industrial Area, which is about 60km north of Port Sultan Qaboos in Muscat.

FLSmidth will supply a closed circuit ball mill capable of handling 150 tonnes of clinker per hour and two cement silos which will each have a capacity of 8,000 tonnes.

FLSmidth's group executive vice-president, Bjarne Moltke Hansen, said: "Infrastructure growth in Oman has created a huge demand for cement.

"Oman Cement Company are already upgrading their existing production lines and now want to set up a fifth cement grinding unit.

"FLSmidth has a strong service capability and presence in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and therefore has good relations with the company."
