Emaar appoints Abdulla Lahej as Group CEO

Low Ping to continue as advisor to chairman Mohamed Alabbar

NEWS, Business, CEO, Emaar

Emaar Properties PJSC has appointed Abdulla Lahej as Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company.

The news, which initially broke towards the end of last week, was confirmed on Sunday afternoon.

Low Ping, who earlier served as Group CEO, continues to be associated with the company as advisor to Mohamed Alabbar, chairman of Emaar Properties. She will also continue to work with Alabbar on his Asian real estate development projects.

Low Ping has been working with Emaar for 11 years, earlier as executive director of finance and chief risk officer before being appointed as Group CEO.

Playing a key role in driving Emaar’s growth, she was part of the senior management team from the start of the company. Instrumental in Emaar’s strategy formation and implementation, she also managed the international expansion of Emaar, with a focus on maintaining the company’s financial discipline and implementing appropriate risk management processes.

Ensuring that the fast-paced growth of the company was maintained within an appropriate, controlled and disciplined organisational structure, the policies and strategic objectives established by her contributed to Emaar emerging as one of the strongest companies in the region despite the challenges of the global financial crisis. She had to return to Singapore for personal reasons.

Lahej joined Emaar as an assistant project manager in 2000 and has served as project manager, director – construction, senior director – construction and executive director – projects & development of Emaar Properties.

He led the project management of Downtown Dubai, Emaar’s flagship mega-development, including the iconic assets Burj Khalifa, The Dubai Mall, The Dubai Fountain and Dubai Marina. He specialises in project development and management, and will now be responsible for working with the senior management team in delivering company’s growth objectives.
