Former Bloom Properties CEO Simon Azzam is 'strong' addition to team
Simon Azzam has been appointed chief executive officer of the communities business unit at Majid Al Futtaim - Properties.
George Kostas, chief executive officer, Majid Al Futtaim - Properties, which holds a portfolio of 16 shopping malls, 11 hotels and three mixed-use communities in MENA, said: “Simon is a strong addition to our team as we seek to further diversify our business and grow our master-planned communities portfolio. With over two decades of experience in both the UAE and the broader MENA region, his knowledge of the local market, attention to local consumer trends and desires coupled with his leadership skills will greatly enhance our existing team. I have no doubt he will play an instrumental role during our next phase of growth.”
Azzam, who joined the company on 1 January, was most recently CEO of Bloom Properties, a large mixed-use development business based in Abu Dhabi, with projects spanning Abu Dhabi and Iraq.
Previous to that he was the CEO of Union Properties PJSC, a large listed development company where he spent 23 years. Azzam played an instrumental role in growing the company into one of the city’s leading property development businesses with signature projects including Motor City, Index Tower, Ritz Carlton DIFC and Green Community and Uptown Mirdif.
