$18bn Iraq to Jordan pipeline to be built 'soon'

Both countries sounding out international firms about project

Iraq and Jordan are in talks with international firms interested in construction an $18bn oil pipeline from Basra to Aqaba.

A report by Jordan Times says it was told by a senior official at the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority that both countriesd are speeding up their efforts to construct the pipeline.

Work on the project is expected to start soon with tender copies being drawn up by Iraq.

Once completed the pipeline is projected to export 2.25 million barrels of oil per day through Jordan, generating between $2bn and $3bn a year in revenues.
