Egyptian desert design stumps Google Earth viewers
Architects' creation has been blamed on UFOs
A mystery design in the Egyptian desert is baffling viewers of Google Earth.
Some say it’s created by UFOs – while others claim it’s a portal to another dimension.
But it is actually the work of landscape architects Danae Stratou, Alexandra Stratou and Stella Constantinides who wanted to illustrate “the desert as a state of mind”.
Entitled 'Desert Breath', the installation features two interlocking spirals, one with vertical cones and the other with conical depressions in the desert floor.
The artists say on their website: “Located at the point where the immensity of the sea meets the immensity of the desert, the work functions on two different levels in terms of viewpoint.
“From above as a visual image, and from the ground, walking the spiral pathway, a physical experience.”
