A private healthcare group is planning to build a $186.6mn (SAR 700mn) medical city for special needs patients in Riyadh, Arabic media has reported.

Al-Hanouf Group has signed a cooperation agreement with Mount Sinai Hospital, which is one of the oldest and largest teaching hospitals in the United States, to operate the medical city.

The facility will be called Al-Hanouf-Mount Sinai Medical City for Medical Rehabilitation, according to the group’s chairman of Dr. Mohammad Al-Mehaizei.

It is expected to begin operations by 2017 and will include a rehabilitation centre that can accommodate 400 to 600 patients, as well as a medical care centre with 200 beds.
