Turkish contractor STFA has confirmed it has finished work on building the new Port of Duqm in Oman.

The firm undertook the $484mn contract through a joint venture with Greece's Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) for the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

STFA regional manager Vedat Koca said the JV had completed final maintenance work and was now demobilising from the project.

The scope of work included building two breakwaters and berths and 31mn m3 of dredging and reclamation works.

Situated on the southeastern seaboard of Oman, overlooking the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean beyond, the Port of Duqm is the principal anchor of a huge Special Economic Zone envisioned at Duqm.

Earlier this week STFA also confirmed it had won a OMR41.99mn ($109mn) contract on the Khasab-Tibat coastal road project in the Musandam governorate.
