Leading architects from across the world will be speaking at the International Architects Conference in Abu Dhabi, from 20-23 April.

Running in parallel with Building Futures Gulf, the conference will address the theme of 'fair practices in the building sector'. The event has been organised by the International Union of Architects (UIA) and will be held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

Speaking at the conference will be France's Odile Decq, designer of the L Museum in Austria, Greece's Nikos Fintikakis, director of UIA's architecture and renewable energy sources programme, and former UIA president Olufemi Majekodunmi.

Topics to be covered at the conference include bioclimatic buildings, improving the energy efficiency of buildings in the Middle East, and combining cost-effectiveness with sustainability in architectural design.

"Abu Dhabi has chosen to be green innovatively," said Gaetan Siew, UIA president. "We wish to be part of this overall approach and contribute to the city's development and are therefore proud to host this conference in Abu Dhabi."

The UIA was formed in 1948 and now represents over 1.4 million architects in more than 100 countries.
