As the Construction Week: Leaders in Construction Qatar conference approaches, which will see the construction industry meet to discuss business and operational strategy and the future of the industry, Andrew Jackson from SAS International comments on the importance of delivering long-term value in the fit-out of projects.

Jackson, director at SAS International said: “It is important that buildings are future-proofed. It is not just about the upkeep of the interior that should be considered at design stage.

“It is also about making sure space is flexible for future change to provide long-term value. This means careful selection of material choice. In a rented office, with varying lengths of leases, there will be different numbers of people using the space over the years. Therefore considering how partitioning can integrate with ceiling systems to cater for future change is crucial.”

With competition in the region, office space has to be designed to the right criteria, and it is essential that owners are seen to offer the best value to potential clients if they are to rent the space quickly.

Metal ceiling systems are being supplied to more projects because of its durable and versatile qualities, which offer a cost-effective and sustainable solution.

Jackson added: “Talking to and working closely with a manufacturer at design or installation stage ensures the correct solution is manufactured to answer aesthetic and sustainability requirements. This offers greater design flexibility to meet tenant demands.”

Having operated in the Middle East for over 30 years, SAS International is widely known as one of the world’s leading manufacturers of interior building solutions.

Discussions at the conference are also expected to focus on the Pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030.

The 2014 Leaders in Construction Qatar conference, now in its fourth year, is a leading forum for the industry to benchmark operations. The event will take place on 16 April 2014 at the Grand Hyatt Doha, Qatar.
