As awareness around sustainability issues heightens, the chance to sponsor the Sustainable Initiative Award at this year's first facilities management Middle East Awards, has gone.

Just days after launching the first facilities management Middle East Awards, ADNH Compass secured the sponsorship package for one of the most sought after accolades: the Sustainable Initiative Award.

"Sustainability has a growing profile in the UAE but is still not top of mind for the majority of companies. ADNH Compass makes every possible effort to support sustainability, but felt that sponsoring the award would give a boost to those companies who go the extra mile," explains Graeme Tomkins, managing director of business development, ADNH Compass.

ADNH Compass is a joint venture between Compass Group and Abu Dhabi National Hotels. It was formed in 2001 and has an annual turnover of AED 1bn.

Currently, it employs over 17,000 staff in the UAE, Qatar and Egypt and has clients in defence, healthcare, leisure, oil and gas and the construction sectors.

"Apart from the obvious reason of giving the company a higher profile, we wanted to give something back to the FM industry and also thank facilities management Middle East for raising the profile of the industry throughout the Gulf," adds Tomkins.

ADNH Compass is currently expanding its recently launched Village Life service solution, aimed at transforming labour camps into communities. For more information, turn to page 24.

"Village Life is aimed at client partners who manage their workforce as the key driver in delivering construction projects on time and in budget, without jeopardising the quality. It is an ethical approach to managing staff, which is economically viable and delivers results which make business sense," he explains.

The Compass Group specialises in providing catering and facilities management services that uniquely meet the objectives of every new client. It employs over 400,000 staff worldwide turns over in excess of US $22bn, is the world's 13th largest employer and is a FTSE100 listed company.
