Design and build tender for Dubai boardwalk

Nakheel's Palm Jumeirah Boardwalk will stretch length of the crescent

NEWS, Projects, Boardwalk, NAKHEEL, Palm Jumeirah

Master developer Nakheel has floated a tender for the design and build of its planned 11km boardwalk in Dubai.

The six-metre wide Palm Jumeirah Boardwalk will run the entire length of the island’s protective crescent and is designed to turn the area into a top location for walking, shopping and dining. It will feature two 100-metre piers, stretching into the waters of the Arabian Gulf at both ends.

Nakheel will create The Boardwalk by building over the rocks of the Palm’s breakwater.

The scope of works includes an elevated boardwalk above the rock revetment on the outer side of the Palm Jumeirah crescent (including associated modification works to the existing breakwater), and two plied deck piers including restaurant buildings. The deadline for tender submissions is noon on 28 May, 2014.

In January, Nakheel appointed Halcrow as the project's design consultant.
