Tyco Fire & Security UAE, a leading provider of integrated fire, security and telecommunications solutions in the Middle East, has launched Evac+Chair, the original and world’s number one evacuation chair.

“In the event of an emergency, ensuring you are fully prepared with an evacuation plan will reduce the likelihood on an accident and prepare you for any eventuality, explained Nigel Millins, operations manager of Tyco Fire & Security UAE.

"When evacuating a building, it is advised that lifts should not be used, therefore the stairs is the safest option, however for mobility-impaired people unfortunately this is not as easy and an alternative method is required.

"The Evac+Chair is a universal solution designed to accommodate disabled or mobility impaired people, allowing them to descend a staircase(s) in an emergency situation without the need of great physical strength or lifting. Evac+Chair is a perfect emergency evacuation solution that ensures no one is left behind.”

The standard 300H MK4 edition Evac+Chair has a payload of 182kg, an increase of 30kg on an earlier model. The 500 model has the capacity to hold an individual weighing 228kg and is suitable for transporting heavier weights. It also includes a foot rest, which can also be used as a support handle when the chair is being used in a two-person operation.

The new design features includes the smooth transportation on steep inclines of 45° essentially reducing the strain on the operators during use. The width of the frame has also increased and padded patient restraint straps added allowing any individual below the specified weight to be safely transported with ease.
