CMC has revealed that it is on the hunt for its own multi-brand fleet management system.

The Dubai-headquartered equipment dealer, which represents brands such as Terex, Wacker Neuson, and Schwing, is currently engaging with potential partners capable of providing the necessary hardware and software for such a system.

“We are looking into the possibility of introducing a CMC-branded fleet management system,” revealed Joe Lahoud, general manager at CMC.

“A common problem for end users is that their fleets consist of multiple brands of equipment. This often means that they are operating with different fleet management systems that don’t interact with one another,” he told CW.

As CMC itself represents multiple equipment brands in the UAE, Lahoud and his colleagues are looking to acquire a fleet management system that can be installed on any machine, regardless of its manufacturer.

“By purchasing, or obtaining the exclusive rights, for both hardware and software, CMC can integrate the hardware into its equipment and then provide the software to customers,” he explained.

“There are a couple of interesting prospects. Chinese companies tend to be quite aggressively priced in this sector, so I’m currently looking into the possibility of a European partner. There are lots of suitable systems available in Europe, so things look promising,” he continued.

Although nothing has been finalised, Lahoud is confident that a multi-brand fleet management system will be available to CMC customers within a relatively short timeframe.

“I think that we should have something to offer before the end of the year,” he told CW.

“By this time, I should also have my team complete in terms of aftermarket support, and this will be an important factor if CMC is to introduce its own fleet management system,” Lahoud concluded.
