US-based specialist contractor STRUCTURAL says it will be opening an office in Doha in the next couple of months.

The firm's GCC headquarters is in Dubai where it provides concrete strengthening and repair solutions to the UAE and Qatar specifically.

Alan Gooch, business development director (technologies), says the firm already has two projects in Doha with the public works authority, Ashghal, involving both strengthening and repair of bridge structures.

“Our philosophy is very much to invest; so we’re not just going there on the back of projects, we’re going there because we can see the market potential,” says Gooch.

“We also believe in order to truly penetrate the market you’ve got to be present in it, not as visitors. After having hosted a ‘mega-seminar' in Doha in March this year, we’re confident we’ll be awarded further projects in the not too distant future.”
