Ellaktor has revealed a selection of the facts and figures behind its $4.4bn Doha Metro contract.

The company announced that its subsidiary, Aktor, was the leader of the ALYSJ JV, with a 32% stake, for the design and construction of the Gold Line Underground – the largest package of the Doha Metro.

The route crosses the city from east to west and work will include a total of 32km or bore tunneling with a diameter or six metres; the tunneling will be lined with approximately 128,000 segments; and there will be six tunnel boring machines (TBM) utilised simultaneously.

There will be 13 underground stations fitted out with high-end finishes and state-of-the-art MEP systems. The stations will require 2.5mn m3 of excavation and 1mn m3 of concreting.

The project duration is 54 months and is due to be completed August of 2018.

A company statement said: “This project reinforces Aktor’s presence in Qatar and the Middle East as well as the strategic positioning as a leading international contractor.”
