Cape Reed to open Abu Dhabi office

South African timber and thatch roof supplier Cape Reed to expand regional operations with opening of second office in the Middle East.

South African timber and thatch roof supplier Cape Reed is planning to expand its regional operations with the opening of an office in Abu Dhabi over the next 18 months.

The company, which already has an office in Dubai, has said that increased demand for its thatched gazebos and timber pergola products means it is looking to open a second regional outlet, to be located in Abu Dhabi, shortly.

"We've had 100% growth year on year since we've been in the Middle East, and this year it looks like it might be higher," Andre van Heerden, managing partner of Cape Reed, told Commercial Outdoor Design.

"The appeal of our product in the region is predominantly the fact that it's a natural sustainable product. In the Middle East, where we have a mainly outdoor lifestyle, it blends in with nature," he added.

Heerden said that the Middle East accounts for 75% of Cape Reed's overall turnover. In addition to Dubai, the company has a head office in Cape Town, South Africa, as well as a European office in Malaga, Spain.
