Nakheel floats tender for Deira Islands project
Dubai developer calls for road works for two of the four islands
Dubai master developer Nakheel has floated a tender for its Deira Islands development.
The new 15.3km2 waterfront city, which will add 40km, including 21km of beachfront to Dubai's coastline, is expected to contribute significantly to the government's tourism vision.
All four Deira Islands will feature hotels, resorts and residential, commercial and retail units and will become a new cultural, residential and commercial hub for the Emirate.
Nakheel will master plan and complete infrastructure work ready for third party development on each island. The developer also plans to build five hotels of its own at the Islands.
The tender calls for road works for two of the islands - A and B - approximately 860 hectares in total. Bids should be in by 17 June, 2014.
In April Nakheel said in a statement that it had appointed AE7 for the design and supervision services including master planning and infrastructure design for Deira Islands under a contract worth $7.6mn (AED28mn).
The same firm was also awarded another contract worth $5.3mn (AED19.5mn) covering architectural and engineering services for the Night market and Board Walk, two main attractions on the 4.5mn m2 south island.
