Nakheel awards $43.6mn deal for Ibn Battuta hotel

NEWS, Business, Construction, NAKHEEL, Unec

Dubai developer Nakheel has awarded a contract to United Engineering Construction (UNEC) worth $43.6mn (AED160mn) to build its new 372-room Ibn Battuta Mall.

The hotel will be a part of Nakheel’s 28,000m2 expansion of the Ibn Battuta mall complex.

Earlier this month, Nakheel signed a management agreement with UK-based Premier Inn to run the hotel, which will be directly linked to the Dubai Metro and Ibn Battuta Mall.

Premier Inn at Ibn Battuta is scheduled to open in 2016.

UAE-based UNEC is also the appointed contractor for the new retail mall at Nakheel’s Dragon Mart extension.

Over the next five years, Nakheel is planning nine hotels across Dubai.
